Pros and Cons for Trimspa

TRIMSPA® hasn't been without its highs and lows. Before Anna Nicole Smith became their main spokesperson, the product languished in relative obscurity amidst a vast selection of over-the-counter diet pills. When Anna Nicole began to appear publicly looking slimmer and slimmer, and crediting TRIMSPA for her eye-catching results, TRIMSPA suddenly had a robust following and now claims to be the leading weight loss pill in the nation. However, Anna Nicole also confessed that frequent use of laxatives, colon cleansing products, as well as dietary revisions also played a large part in the 69 pounds she shed. TRIMSPA reports that their formula has been clinically proven to increase weight loss results when compared to diet and exercise without TRIMSPA, and they quantify that claim by informing users that they can expect to lose up to 23.7 pounds in eight weeks.

The key ingredient in TRIMSPA (now known as Advanced TRIMSPA® X32) is Hoodia Gordonii, which is a plant native to Africa which has been used for centuries by indigenous tribes to eliminate hunger during extended hunting expeditions. This origin seems to resonate well with the public, as many of them have gone in search of buying Hoodia with or without the TRIMSPA name attached to it. Hoodia came into fashion when the use of ephedra in diet pills was banned in the United States. The widely reported problem with Hoodia is that it lacks the oversight required to determine its potency and purity. A parallel complaint with TRIMSPA is that it no longer lists its ingredients separately. Companies often do this to cloak their proprietary formula in reasonable secrecy, but it presents concerns with regard to transparency as to the amount of active ingredients it contains.

TRIMSPA side effects include restlessness, anxiety, insomnia, and heart palpitations, which are common with diet aids. However, the fact that many people take TRIMSPA late in the day when hunger pains are most challenging can compound the problem of insomnia and restlessness well into the evening hours. Reports of migraines as a side effect have also been associated with the use of TRIMSPA. There is a lengthy list of medications and medical conditions that contraindicate the use of TRIMSPA, and those with shellfish allergies should not use TRIMSPA.

Consumer reviews are difficult to calibrate due to the fact that many websites listing overwhelmingly negative reviews are operated by competitors. However, In terms of reviews that appear to be presented in a neutral environment, consumers tend to be fairly evenly split in terms of appetite suppressant qualities, energy increase, and overall weight loss. Users who report success emphasize consistency of use for success, and also offer caution with regard to appetite returning when pills are missed or discontinued. Those who previously used ephedra are less pleased with hoodia as an alternative.

Positive editorial reviews are sparse because they are loathe to recommend any product that doesn't demonstrate that it uses a clinically backed formula and dosage; consequently, most over-the-counter diet pills will fall into this category.

Pros and Cons for Hydroxycut

In 2006, the FDA's ruling about ephedrine was upheld in appeals court, which effectively made diet supplements containing ephedrine illegal in the United States. The ruling dealt an incredible blow to the diet supplement industry, and many wondered whether diet supplements would become a thing of the past as a result of banning the main ingredient.

Many supplement companies folded as a result of the ruling. However, one of the industry giants, HydroxycutTM, refashioned their product and continues to be a dominant force in the business. No longer containing ephedrine, the main ingredients in Hydroxycut are now green tea, garcinia cambogia, and gymnema sylvestre. Green tea provides caffeine in a form that is supposed to be more gentle on the body than other forms of caffeine. Garcinia cambogia and gymnema sylvetre are herbs purported to regulate blood sugar. The Hydroxycut weight loss plan clearly states that while an active lifestyle and healthy eating are the main contributors to successful weight loss, the addition of Hydroxycut will increase the amount of weight one can lose by dieting only.

Unbiased reviews of post-ephedrine ban Hydroxycut are difficult to find as there appears to be a concerted effort from both supporters and detractors to post frequent web reviews on sites that have been specifically design to sing the praises of or lament the pitfalls of Hydroxycut. However, among those that appear to be neutrally situated, consumer reviews are decidedly balanced.

The primary criticism of the negative reviews centers around the ineffectiveness of the product. Reviewers claim that Hydroxycut did not reduce their cravings, give them more energy, or help them to lose weight. Those who had more specific complaints cited feelings of sickness upon taking Hydroxycut, being jittery or nervous while using the product, and experiencing severe and recurring headaches because of product use.

The reviews that offered a more favorable opinion of Hydroxycut claimed that with the product they were hungry, but no longer suffered from cravings. Several asserted that they had more energy than they'd had in years. And many quoted pounds and inches lost and sizes diminished because of Hydroxycut. It should be noted, however, that in almost all of the instances when users noticed significant weight loss, they had also changed their diets and/or lifestyles considerably. As was noted in one review, it would be hard to attribute all of the weight loss to Hydroxycut when pounds probably would have been shed because of increased exercise on its own.

Pros and Cons for Stacker 3

As with all dietary supplements on the market in the United States today, Stacker 3® is ephedra/ephedrine free. Ephedra was formerly an ingredient in Stacker products and its removal may contribute to some recent customer reviews.

In place of ephedra, Stacker 3 now contains chitosan, a purported fat binder/blocker. Some concern has been expressed about the use of chitosan as it is manufactured from the exoskeletons of crabs and shrimp. Many wonder if this does not pose a danger for those who suffer from shellfish allergies. Others counter that those with shellfish allergies are allergic to the meat and not to the shell so the use chitosan is not an issue. No incidents of allergic reaction have been reported.

As is the case with many dietary supplements, consumer reviews of Stacker 3 run the gamut of extremes. While some reviews claim miraculous properties, others decry the horrors of the products. It would also appear to be the case that neutral reviews are few and far between, as many online reviews are posted on competitor sites or sites that sell the product.

However, there is a fair balance among those reviews that seem to be of a neutral quality. Critical reviews consistently cite nervousness, anxiety, and jitters as reasons for discontinuing use of the product. It should be noted, however, that Stacker 3 has caffeine as one of its main ingredients and that these same reviewers might give the same analysis after drinking a soda or a cup of coffee. In addition to the caffeine-related effects, excessive gas and queasiness were also common complaints.

Those who reviewed Stacker 3 in a more favorable light indicated that it gave them the boost of energy they needed without the jolt-like feeling that they normally get from caffeine. Furthermore, many claimed that Stacker 3 helped them to burn fat more quickly than exercise or diet alone. There were some who indicated that they use Stacker 3 specifically for its energy increasing qualities in order to stay awake on the job and so were not interested in whether or not it was successful in burning fat.
